Gunmen Attack Two Commercial Buses, Kidnap Travellers In Rivers
An unspecified number of travellers have been kidnapped during an attack on two commercial buses in Rivers State.
Ezenwoko’s Blog learned that the buses were attacked along Degema/Buguma/Abonnema Road on East/West road in the state on Monday, causing tension in the area.
The buses were said to be travelling to Kalabari riverine axis in Degema, Asaritoru and Akukutoru Local Government Councils from Port-Harcourt before the incident.
Meanwhile, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has demanded an immediate prosecution of arrested bandits and terrorists including their sponsors.
The monarch said the unwillingness of the Federal Government to prosecute the terrorists has emboldened them to continue to carry out attacks and killings in the Northern part of the country.
Abubakar called for the resignation of the National Security Adviser (NSA), Babagana Monguno, and the service chiefs over the widespread insecurity in the country.
The Sultan stated these during a security dialogue retreat jointly organised by the Global Peace Foundation and Vision Africa in Abuja on Monday.
The Islamic leader stated that the bane of the nation’s problem is corruption, adding that the issue of insecurity in Nigeria should be tackled alongside corruption.
