Gombe gov sends commissioner-nominees names to Assembly

In keeping with the 60 days constitutional provisions, Governor Muhammadu Yahaya of Gombe State has submitted a list of commissioner-nominees to the House of Assembly for approval.

Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Abubakar Njodi, personally transmitted the list of the nominees to the clerk of the Assembly, Rukaiyatu Jalo, for unveiling by the Speaker, Abubakar Luggerewo.

Our correspondent couldn’t confirm the number of nominees as of the time of filing this report as the house is expected to unveil the list later at plenary.

Meanwhile, based on the recommendation made by in the report of 2023 Transition Management Committee chaired by Dr Ibrahim Daudu on 17th July 2023, the governor is expected to reduce the number of ministries from 21.

In 2019, Yahaya reduced the number of ministries from 27 to 21. If the committee’s recommendation is anything to go by the list may have less than 21 names.
