Fire guts popular mall, IC World, in Abuja

A popular shopping mall, IC World Emporia, in the Gwarinpa area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, was on Wednesday gutted by fire.

The fire was reported to have started in the early hours of Wednesday, as an X user, Mister_Mash, shared the video online.

The now-trending video showed the roof of the building on fire.

Mister_Mash wrote, “4:13 am currently happening right now in Gwarimpa, IC World Emporia on fire.”

Afterward, he shared videos of the Federal Fire Service at the scene to salvage the situation.

The Head of Operations of the FCT Fire Service, Amiola Adebayo, confirmed the fire incident in a phone call with our correspondent.

This incident is coming a few hours after the explosion that rocked Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Tuesday evening, as many are feared dead and houses destroyed.

According to the state governor, Seyi Makinde, preliminary investigations by security agencies revealed that the explosion that rocked the Bodija area of Ibadan was caused by explosive devices stored by illegal miners.
