Fire engulfs INEC office in Ibadan

The Independent National Electoral Commission in Oyo State has confirmed a fire incident at its Ibadan South East Local Government Area office on Friday.

The state Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Adeniran Tella, in a statement to newsmen, disclosed that the fire broke out around 10.30 a.m. on Friday.

The REC stated that the fire’s cause was still unknown.

“No life was lost but for the logistic materials that got burnt, it will not affect the Saki/West State Constituency re-run election coming up on Saturday, February 3, 2024,” he stated

INEC would also conduct re-run and bye-elections simultaneously in nine states on Saturday, February 3, 2024.
