Evantoyra pushes his Afrobeat Agenda

Evantorya, the stage name of Jephthah David, has managed to strike a balance between his gloomy emotions and the lovely afrobeat.  The 20-year-old teenager, who is from Kaduna, Nigeria, a center of learning, has mastered the technique of fusing emo and afrobeat sounds.

Like any other musician, Evantorya’s musical approach was influenced by artists like Drake and Wizkid at the beginning of his career. His music blends nostalgia and innovation, with influences ranging from early emo bands who established the sound of the genre to contemporary indie and alternative performers. His music frequently has melancholy melodies, strong vocal performances, and a willingness to try out various instrumental textures. This young artist isn’t afraid to straddle the classic emo and other genres, creating an intriguing and varied sound landscape.

Identity, mental health, and the human experience are all major themes in his lyrics. He has learned to embrace his insecurities and welcome listeners to find solace in his songs, which navigate the complex emotional landscapes of anxiety, depression, self-discovery, and the struggles of growing up in a rapidly changing world. In a world where conversations about mental well-being are becoming more and more important.

He became famous in 2022 with the mega single “The Deck,” which was played in more than 150 countries and amassed a staggering 3 million streams. This song cemented his reputation as a prospective genre-breaker not just in his native nation but also in the rest of the world. He sees himself rising to greater heights and eventually packing venues.
