EPL: Gerrard, Lampard Not Qualified To Coach Premier League Club – Simon Jordan
The managerial ability of Liverpool’s former legend, Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard of Chelsea have been belittled by the former owner of Crystal Palace, Simon Jordan.
Ezenwoko’s Blog reported earlier that Gerrard was appointed Aston Villa manager while former Chelsea manager, Lampard pulled out of the race to become the new Norwich City boss.
Norwich had instead appointed former Aston Villa boss Dean Smith as their new manager following the sack of Daniel Farke.
Scanning through the career achievements of the two football coaches, Jordan beliefs that the duo are unfit to become Premier League managers.
Jordan who was commenting on the appointment of Smith’s, discredited the claims that Lampard should have been offered the role.
“The tragedy for Frank is he’s got no backdrop for suggesting he’s a Premier League manager.
“The Chelsea side he inherited with a group of young players did ok, and then when he was on top in the Premier League which is when you spend money, out the door he went
,” Jordan said while speaking with talkSPORT.
He added: “I don’t think he [Gerrard] has the credentials either.
“Either one of these guys would walk through the door, if they were Joe Schmo from nowhere, not Frank Lampard, and not Steven Gerrard, they would never ever get these opportunities because they don’t merit them.
“Steven Gerrard you know who he is, Frank Lampard you know who he is. They both talk very well, they’ve both got good backgrounds, they both seem to be very sensible, but neither of them has been at the top table for winning anything significant.
“I know the SPFL is significant in Scotland, but in real terms, it’s [Gerrard’s former role] not going to compare to the job in hand at Aston Villa.”
