Emeka Beke Elected Rivers APC Chairman
A new chairman that will steer the affairs of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State has been elected.
Ezenwoko’s Blog reports that Emeka Beke, an associate of the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi was declared winner of the election at the state congress.
To emerge the state APC chairman, Beke scored 1,575 votes to defeat his opponent, Chizi Nyeomasila, who polled eight votes.
Announcing other results, Secretary of the state congress committee, Adoyi Omale, said a former member of the State House of Assembly, Sam Etetegwung was elected unopposed as the Secretary.
Omale added that Chris Finebone was also elected unopposed as the publicity secretary of the party in the Rivers.
In his acceptance speech, Beke thanked the delegates for reposing confidence in him with the massive votes that he polled to emerge the state chairman.
He promised to work towards a united party that would take over power from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
Beke commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for monitoring the election and security agencies for maintaining the peace.
He said: “I thank the delegates for reposing confidence in me with the massive votes that I got: I will ensure that work towards the unity and victory for the party in 2023.
“For my brothers that contested with me, there is no victor, no vanquished; they will all be involved in the party activities.”
