Dowen College: Ijaw Youths To Hold Candlelight Procession For Late Sylvester
The Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide has announced a candle procession in honour of late 12-year-old Sylvester Oromoni Jnr, the Dowen College pupil who died under controversial circumstances.
Naija New earlier reports that the 12-year-old JS2 pupil was bullied and beaten for refusing to join a cult.
In a letter dated December 7th, President of Council, Timothy Igbifa, instructed all Ijaw youths across the country to hold candlelight in honor of a fallen star.
The letter reads;
“Igbifa’s directive was further reiterated by Comr. Doubra Okotete, Chairman IYC Western Zone, who charged on youths in the zone to turn out en mass for the procession.
“Describing the death of Sylvester Oromoni Jr. has excruciating, Doubra wrote;
“In line with the call from the presidency of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, Dcn (Comr.) Peter Timothy Igbifa CGPA, CPIN: the Zonal Executive led by Dr. Doubra Okotete urges all Clan Chairmen, Women Leader, parliamentarians, stakeholders and particular Ijaw people from Western Zone to converge at NPA, by 6 pm for a brief peace walk before 7: pm as directed—for the Candle Light of our rising star.
