Cleric moves to address power, water problems in Abia communities
The General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, has moved to address the problems of power supply and water scarcity in some communities in Abia State.
A Sunday statement noted that on January 24, 2024, the cleric released funds for the payment of pre-payment meters for houses in three communities in Ndoki, Ukwa East Local Government Area of the state.
“Worried by the lack of electricity in the community, Apostle Chinyere approached the power holding company, which stipulated that all houses in the community must be metered before restoring electricity supply to the community.
“Not minding the cost implications of such a huge project, the Man of God reached out to those in charge and made payment to install prepaid meters in all the houses in three communities, Ikwuorie, Ujuru and Okotoko.”
The statement noted the metering company would start the installation of prepaid meters afterward.
It added that in a bid to provide potable water in the Ohanku community, the cleric constructed a solar water system to provide free access to drinking water supply in Ohanku community.
In December, the member representing Ohafia South state constituency in the Abia House of Assembly, Kalu Nwoke, lamented the perennial scarcity of water in Asaga Ohafia, Abia, calling on the state government to come to the rescue of the community.
Nwoke said this while unveiling and handing over a multi-million naira civic centre built by Bianko Age Grade as their traditional retirement project to the community in Ohafia LGA.
“Today, our joy is that we are appealing to a humane administration led by Dr Alex Otti and we are hopeful that in no distant time, this challenge among others confronting the community will end.”
“On my part, I will continue to add value to the communities in particular and offer quality representation to the constituency in general,” he added.
