Celestial Church Members Kidnapped In Ogun Regain Freedom
Three members of the Celestial Church of Christ who were whisked away during a night service in Obada-Oko area of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, have been rescued.
The Church goers Ezenwoko’s Blog understands were abducted at about 1 am last Friday while in a vigil at the Celestial Church of Christ, Owo Agbara Majemu Parish, Iwokun, near the ‘railway bridge’ in Obada-Oko.
The worshippers fell into the hand of the kidnappers after failing to adhere to warnings by the state police command on restriction of movements at certain hours.
Ezenwoko’s Blog understands that residents of Obada-Oko have been living in fear over incessant cases of kidnapping in the fast-growing Ewekoro Local Government town.
However, the kidnap victims, one Mr Ezekiel Agbaje and two other women have been rescued unhurt by the Ogun State Government-owned security outfit, the So-Safe Corps.
The corps had gathered from one of the rescued victims that the same church was attacked sometimes in June, 2021, with a worshipper kidnapped.
According to So-Safe Corps spokesman, Moruf Yusuf, the Commander of the agency, Soji Ganzallo, had, upon useful information, instructed the Corps Special Squads to go after the abductors and rescue the victims unhurt.
“The So-Safe squad were able to get one of the victims rescued alive and unhurt at about 4 pm on Sunday, 5th. December, 2021,” Yusuf stated.
He added further that the kidnappers were forced to release the remaining two female victims in the early hours of Tuesday.
During interrogation, the white garment church members had said they would find it difficult not to worship within the same church, saying “the God they serve lives in the Church.”
Meanwhile, the So-Safe Corps has advised the general public to shun night vigil as well as worshipping in the forest as earlier warned by the Ogun State police command.
