Catholic Priest Dies After Attending Colleague’s Burial

The Catholic Diocese of Abakaliki on Thursday announced the death of Rev. Fr. Raymond Ifeanyi.

Ezenwoko’s Blog reports that the clergyman died in an accident in front of St.Theresa’s Cathedral, Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital.

The priest was said to be driving out of the church after attending the funeral of his colleague, Rev Fr Christopher Nnachi Agwu.

Until his death, Eselu was the parish priest of St Patrick’s parish Ezza-Ofu in Ebonyi state.

A statement signed by the Diocesan Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Mathew Uzoma Opoke, described Eselu as a jovial and dedicated priest who took delight in the celebration of Mass.

The statement reads “We are hopeful that God, for who, he served, would prepare a banquet full of good things for the one who has served in his vineyard in so remarkable a manner. We ask for your prayers for his eternal repose after his meritorious service. The funeral rite will be announced later”

Wrestler Sentenced To Death For Murdering Wife

A local wrestler in Adamawa State, Thank-you Grim has been sentenced to death for murdering his ex-wife.

The perpetrator got the sentence for pounding his wife, Kwalla, after she asked for divorce.

After committing the crime, he submitted himself to the police who charged him to court.

A High Court ordered that the defendant be hanged by the neck till he died.

The presiding judge, Justice Nathan Musa said he found the wrestler guilty of the offence.

The judge said that the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubt that the convict murdered the deceased.

He said: “As stated in my judgment, the convict is convicted for culpable homicide punishable with death. My hands are therefore tied. I cannot do otherwise.

“Therefore, the convict is accordingly sentenced to death by hanging as provided by section 192(b) of Penal Code Law.”

According to the prosecution, the wrestler pushed his wife to the ground and hit her with a pestle.
