ASUU: DSS Sends Important Message To Striking Lecturers

The Director of State Service (DSS) has appealed to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to call off the ongoing strike.
The Director of the Service in charge of Yobe, Yunusa Abdulkadir made the plea on Thursday in Damaturu at the Third Quarterly Conference of the State Directors of Security in the North -East Zone.
He noted that the strike which had resulted in learning institution been shut down for months have security implications.
“In as much as we know that ASUU is pursuing a genuine cause, they should take a deeper look at the peculiarities of North-East region that has stayed for over a decade in the hands of insurgents,” Yunusa said.
Recall that ASUU on August 29 announced the extension of the ongoing strike after a heated meeting of the national executive council (NEC) held at the University of Abuja.
The counsel to the Federal government pleaded that the court give the suit an accelerated hearing as it was urgent to enable students to return to school.
He further urged the strike to be called off since the case is in court.
He further appealed to the government to cooperate with the union to resolve the matter.
