Abia CP, NSCDC assure adequate security ahead


The police and other security agencies have been massively deployed to fortify venues of the inauguration ceremony in the state before, during, and after the May 29 inauguration ceremony.

As a result, therefore, the Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Mustapha Mohammed Bala, and the Abia State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Paul Ozoemene Igwebuike, have assured residents of the state of a hitch-free inauguration ceremony in the state.

CP Bala urged all Abians and visitors to adhere to the rules and regulations as regards the inauguration, reminding all to report any suspicious activity or persons to the Police or other relevant Security agencies.

The CP warned all non-state actors, groups, or individuals intending to cause or create any form of chaos before, during, and after the celebration to steer clear of the venues as the law enforcement agencies will not hesitate to subdue any confrontational or act of insecurity.

He enjoined all residents not to panic with the increased presence of security operatives patrolling within their areas as the Command is committed to ensuring a safe and secure Abia before, during, and after the period.

Similarly, the Abia State Commandant of the NSCDC, Paul Igwebuike, reiterated the readiness of his Men to provide adequate security to ensure a hitch-free inauguration.

He maintained that there is no alternative to peace in any society willing to advance in socio-economic and political developments and assured of his Command’s readiness to continue to synergize with relevant security agencies to ensure sustenance of relative peace in the state.

His Command, he said, has emplaced tactical measures to tackle possible pressures on the state’s security which may arise from the expected influx of guests within and outside the state with its attendant security and traffic implications before, during, and after the exercise.

“My men have been strategically deployed across the state with special attention to flash points, inauguration venues, and other locations of interest. I have equally directed the Commander of the Command’s Rapid Response Squad to scale up Motorized patrols across the state to ensure a smooth inauguration”, the Abia NSCDC boss further assured.

He called on the general public to be law abiding and avoid acts capable of causing a breach of public peace and safety in the state warning that anyone caught shall be dealt with by the law, and appealed to the people to always provide timely and credible information to security agencies in the state to serve them better.
