Four killed, 10 injured in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway crash
Four persons lost their lives while 10 were injured in an accident that occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Tuesday.
The spokesperson for the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Florence Okpe, in a statement, said the bus conveying 20 persons somersaulted after a tyre burst.
The crash occurred around 5:57 am around Sandcrate along the expressway.
The crash involved a white Toyota bus with number plate ZUR87ZY, Okpe said, noting that “a total of 20 persons were involved. Ten persons were injured while four male adults were recorded dead from the crash.”
“The suspected causes of the fatal lone crash were excessive speeding and bust tyre which led to loss of control that made the vehicle somersaulted many times,” Okpe said.
She added that the injured victims were taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere, while the corpses were taken to the FOS Morgue.
PUNCH Metro reports that the crash is yet another one in the series of recent motor accidents on the road.
A trailer driver fell off the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway bridge between Berger and Isheri sections on Saturday.
It was gathered that the trailer had crashed into the bridge, leaving its front hanging at the edge.
