Oyo park members invited over attempted murder, not kidnapped
The Oyo State Police Command, on Monday, confirmed the invitation of two members of the state Park Management System over alleged attempted murder and unlawful possession of firearms.
The invitees are identified as Akeem Akinola, popularly called Kuso, and Segun (surname not yet confirmed).
The duo were said to have been reportedly kidnapped by unknown gunmen at Omi Adio in Ido Local Government Area of Oyo state, on Saturday.
However, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, in a statement said they were invited by the operatives from the Force Headquarters, Abuja and not abducted as reported.
He said, “The duo were invited by intelligence operatives who were on lawful duty from the Force Headquarters, Abuja in connection with their alleged involvements in criminal offences, which include criminal conspiracy, attempted murder, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of firearms.
“The complaint is under investigation as the update will be provided in due course. As the saying goes, if you see something, say something and the police will do something.”
The police assured Oyo residents of the commands’ total commitment to securing lives and property as well as enjoined them to always provide timely and credible information to the Police at all times to nip crime in the bud.
