Man accuses Edo policemen of N500,000 extortion


An X user, identified as dottibumblebee, has accused some police officers from the Edo State Police Command of extorting him of N500,000.

According to his posts on X on Tuesday, he was stopped and held hostage by the officers in Benin City, who accused him of being a cultist and threatened his life.

He said the policemen found money in his Binance wallet during a phone search.

Faced with threats, he claimed to have traded his USDT on the Binance app to pay them N500,000  using a PoS machine.

He wrote, “Today I was stopped and held hostage by some police officers in Benin City, they accused me of being a cultist and threatened to take my life.

“They later searched my phone and found out I had some money on my Binance wallet

“I was literally threatened to death by these officers which led me to trade my Usdt on my Binance app, and pay them N500,000  using PoS .

” I was supposed to use the money to start school this year. I’ve worked so hard for this money.

“I had worked under someone in Lagos for the past four years ever since my WAEC as a photographer.

“I planned to further my study this year by applying to a polytechnic. Now, this # PoliceNG personnel have ruined my life completely.

“Where will I start from now?  I’ve saved that money my entire life. I’ve starved myself this whole time just for the Nigeria policemen to take everything I had worked hard for from me”
