Milan to have too much for threadbare Toon

On Matchday 5 of the Champions League, Newcastle’s destiny was cruelly taken out of their hands. This is due to a controversial decision that allowed PSG to snatch a 1-1 draw in the 98th minute.

The Magpies responded with a convincing win over Manchester United. However, they have since fallen apart in away games to Everton and in their weekend game against Tottenham. They lost 3-0 and 4-1 respectively.

Eddie Howe has seen his side suffer a horrendous catalogue of injuries and has admitted his players have looked physically fatigued.

AC Milan’s boss Stefano Pioli has been encouraged by Rafael Leao being passed fit to start, as confirmed in an organised friendly match. I am taking the do-or-die nature of the game to bring the best out of the visitors.

Also, I expect them to upset the odds and emerge as the winner, despite Newcastle being the firm favourite.

Bet 1: AC Milan to win @ 4.00 with Bet9ja

Goals set to warm up a packed St James Park

Among Newcastle’s many injuries, the most damaging is to goalkeeper Nick Pope.

However, it is Martin Dubravka who will once again fill in on Wednesday night. The club has shown interest in potential transfers for David de Gea and Hugo Lloris.

After a dry start to their campaign, AC Milan have seen at least three goals in each of their last three group games.

Looking at the recent stats, the Rossoneri’s last five fixtures have been very eventful, totalling 18 goals at 3.60 per game. Atalanta served up a five-goal thriller on Saturday, providing a prime example.

Bet 2: Over 3 Asian @ 2.15 with Bet9ja

Milan to take care of their part of the bargain

Several factors suggest AC Milan will have to attack and score at least twice. The home side will be roared on as usual by their passionate support. Having Rafael Leao available will add to the counter-attacking threat of the Italians.

However, Fikayo Tomori will likely be their only fit centre-back. Unlikely to keep a clean sheet, the visitors will have to score at least twice for a chance of qualification.

Coach Stefano Pioli is under pressure to get a positive result here to keep his job. Expect him to send his men out on the front foot.

Bet 3: AC Milan Over 1.5 Goals @ 2.90 with Bet9ja

No festive cheer for fans of cards

Despite the high-stakes nature of this tie, I don’t expect a high number of cautions in my final predictions.

Although there were five cards in the last head-to-head in Milan, three of those came in the last 10 minutes. José María Sánchez Martínez took charge of that game and issued 16 cards across his three group stage appointments.

To put this into perspective, Danny Makkelie, the referee for this match, issued half the number of cards compared to this – twice fewer, to be precise.

The Dutch official even kept his notebook empty in the last round of matches when he was in charge of Young Boys vs Crvena Zvezda. His average of 2.67 cards per Champions League tie this season makes this an attractive final addition to my tips.

Bet 4: Under 4.5 cards @ 2.39 with Bet9ja
