Lagos Govt Orders Private, Public Schools To Resume January 4
All schools in Lagos State, including private and public have been directed to resume activities on Tuesday, January 4, 2022.
Ezenwoko’s Blog reports that the directive was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Lagos State Ministry of Education.
The statement issued through the office of the State Commissioner for Education, Folasade Adefisayo, admonished administrators in both public and private schools in the state to strategize means of protecting the lives of students as they begin the second term of the 2021/2022 academic session.
The statement entitled ‘LASG urges administrators to step up safety in schools,’ said it was necessary for the administrators to ensure that exposure of students to danger within the school premises are reduced to zero.
The commissioner said: “It is necessary to devise appropriate strategies to advance teachers/students interaction to gain insight and expose negative tendencies before they metamorphose into unfortunate situations. Adequate monitoring, especially as it affects boarding school students, should be instituted to prevent the incidence of bullying and all other vices on school premises.”
Adefisayo again reminded the school administrators of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s warning against bullying, cultism and other vices in schools.
Ezenwoko’s Blog understands that the governor had earlier warned that such acts would not be tolerated in Lagos schools.
The commissioner also enjoined the administrators to increase counselling of students against such vices.
