Winning AMVCA fashion show, my greatest achievement – Ayobami Oladapo

A fashion designer and the Creative Director of Statement by Bami, Ayobami Oladapo, has said that winning the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards runway fashion show is her biggest career achievement so far.

In an interview with Saturday Beats, she said, “I was so elated and I feel really blessed to have won the AMVCA runway fashion show. A lot of efforts and time were put into creating the outfits, and I am glad it was all worth it.

“Winning the runway competition is definitely my greatest achievement as a fashion designer. I believe it is the goal of every up-and-coming fashion designer to be recognised for their work on such a platform.”

Speaking about her favourite part of being a fashion designer, Oladapo said, “My favourite part of being a fashion designer is seeing my designs come to life just the way I imagined them from sketch to cuts, sewing and fitting. Besides, seeing people appreciate my work as much as I do is also an amazing feeling. I can never get used to it.”

She added that her greatest strength as a fashion designer was being able to give her clients maximum satisfaction.

Defining what fashion means to her, she said, “Fashion, to me, means an expression of oneself in what one wears, up to the tiniest detail. Fashion tells who one is without having to speak.”
