Amotekun Rescues Four Worshippers In Ondo
Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun, has rescued four church members who were kidnapped during a vigil in the Edo Lodge area of Akure on Wednesday.
Ondo State Commander of Amotekun, Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed this on Thursday while parading some suspects at the headquarters of the agency in Akure, the state capital.
The Amotekun commander said that the worshippers were kidnapped around 11 pm on Wednesday when the gunmen invaded the church.
He stated that the worshippers were whisked away to an unknown location and were subjected to molestation and other inhumane treatment.
Adeleye revealed that Amotekun officials were able to rescue the victims inside a forest in Ado Ekiti around 1.30 am on Thursday and have been given medical treatment.
The Amotekun commander said the corps arrested one Igbekele Abiodun in connection with the kidnapped incident, adding that the suspect dressed as a woman when he was arrested.
He said,”At about 11 pm, we received a distressed call that some hoodlums kidnapped the worshippers who were in their church doing their service. It was one of them (Igbekele Abiodun) that first entered the church and asked the worshippers to stand up before the other members of the gang entered. They abducted four female members of the church and molested them.
“Our men immediately swung into action and we were able to rescue the victims and arrested one of the suspects (Igbekele Abiodun). Our men are still on the trail of the remaining suspects. We have brought the victims to our office and we have given them medical treatment.”
