To recognize outstanding student leaders and, in some cases, provide them with college scholarships, numerous organizations have established awards.

1. Ronald Reagan Leadership Medal

This distinguished award is given to graduating students who demonstrate the following qualities to the highest degree: drive, humility, and putting service before self-interest. It gives schools the opportunity to celebrate outstanding high school students whose values of citizenship, drive, and integrity are reminiscent of our nation's 40th President.

Each student who is honored with a nomination will be presented with a one-of-a-kind medallion as well as a letter of acknowledgement from John Heubusch, the Executive Director of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute. During the month of May, awards will be mailed out to school officials in time to be delivered during a culmination ceremony, award reception, or graduation.

Eligibility

Students who have graduated from their respective institutions during the current school year and who demonstrate the qualities of Drive, Humility, and Service Before Self are considered to be eligible.

2. Widener University Leadership Award

If the student who was chosen to be a leader participates in the Apogee Leadership Scholars Program at Widener University as an undergraduate student, then they will be eligible for the award. Our Apogee Scholars are awarded a scholarship of $20,000 over the course of four years, in addition to having access to four years' worth of leadership education, which includes a Widener Leadership Certificate.

Eligibility

Students from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware who have exhibited leadership by taking a stand for what is just, locating a solution to a problem, or making a significant contribution to the betterment of their schools or communities will be considered for this award.

Deadline

Students must be nominated by their principal in order to progress in the competition.
