No Iheanacho but Ndidi helps Leicester City bounce back with an emphatic win over Newcastle
The former Manchester City man was not in the Foxes matchday squad, but his countryman played from start to finish as Brendan Rodgers men bounced back from their Europa League disappointment
Kelechi Iheanacho was missing, but Wilfred Ndidi was in action as Leicester City returned to winning ways with an emphatic 4-0 win over Newcastle in their Premier League clash at the King Power Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Foxes were winless in their last three matches in all competitions, going into the game. And as a result, their coach, Brendan Rodgers made some changes, with Patson Daka coming in for Jamie Vardy.
Ndidi, kept his place, though, and he played another key role in the heart of the midfield. The Super Eagles star made two tackles, blocked two shots and won four ground duels.
The former Genk man also managed one shot on target as the Foxes secured a dominant win. Leicester took the lead in the 38th minute through a Youri Tielemans penalty before Daka rewarded Rodgers trust with a goal in the 57th minute.
Tielmemans then scored his second and Leicester’s third nine minutes from time before James Maddison added gloss to the scoreline with a strike in the 85th minute.
The win lifted the Foxes to eighth on the table with 22 points from 16 games.
