I Wasn’t Consulted Before Statement Crediting AEDC Board Sack To Buhari Was Released – Minister

The Minister of State for Power, Goddy Jedy Agba, has dissociated himself from a statement crediting the sack of the management of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Recall that the minister’s spokesman, Ofem Uket, had in a statement on Tuesday disclosed that President Buhari directed the sack and replacement of the AEDC board over the strike embarked by electricity workers.

But in a statement on Wednesday, the Presidency denied the statement that President Buhari ordered the sack of the management of the company.

Reacting to the development in a statement he personally signed on Thursday, Odeh said that statement issued by his spokesman did not reflect his official position as the Power Minister.

The minister added that he was not consulted before the statement was released to the public, describing the whole saga as unfortunate.

Agba henceforth directed that all publications for print and electronic media should pass through him for clearance not to allow a repeat of the embarrassing incident.

Meanwhile, the federal government has said there is no truth in the rumour flying around about a possible delay in the payment of December salary to civil servants in the country.

In debunking the rumour, the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) said the circular upon which the rumour is based didn’t originate from the government.

Ezenwoko’s Blog reports that the OHCSF in a statement on Thursday evening signed by the Director (Communications), OHCSF, AbdulGaniyu Aminu said the initial circular is fake.

Aminu added that Dr. S.A. Adegoke who signed the said circular is not a staff of the office and the content of the circular should be disregarded by civil servants and the general public.

The statement added that those behind the so-called circular are just out to cause mischief by spreading false information.
