President Muhammadu Buhari has condemned the burning of over seventeen travellers to death by bandits in Gidan Bawa village, Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The spokesman of the state Police Command, ASP Sanusi Abubakar, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Tuesday night.
Abubakar said an unidentified number of burnt dead bodies have been recovered, adding that seven of the victims have been admitted to an undisclosed hospital.
In a statement on Wednesday issued by his spokesman, Femi Adesina, Buhari expresses sadness over the gruesome murder of the innocent travellers.
The President said that the dastardly act by bandits showed that the evil his administration was confronting required the support and involvement of all Nigerians.
He, however, extended his deep condolences to the families of the victims, assuring them that the security agencies will bring the criminals to justice.
He said, “I am very distressed at the manner of death visited on these hapless citizens who were undertaking a legitimate journey to another part of the country.
“It shows that the evil this administration is confronting is one that requires the support and involvement of all Nigerians.
“I extend deep condolences to the families of the victims as I assure that the security agencies will continue to give their all to bring to an end the operations of these despicable people.”
