Klopp Speaks On Liverpool Extending Salah’s Contract
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has expressed confidence that the club will reward Egyptian international, Mohamed Salah with an improved contract.
Speaking on Tuesday, Klopp stated that the club will do the needful regarding Salah’s contract negotiations, adding that he wants the forward to stay in Anfield for a long time.
Klopp said: “We are talking. Extending a contract with a player like Mo is not a thing you do over a cup of tea in the afternoon and find an agreement.
“This is completely normal. There’s really nothing else to say. Mo speaks about it when he gets asked about it. I can say only a few things because the rest is not for the public.
“Mo is fine, I’m fine. What we all want is clear and things like this take time. That’s it.”
Ezenwoko’s Blog reports that the Egyptian, who has scored 144 goals in 223 appearances for Liverpool, has 18 months left on his current deal and remains in discussions over extending his stay.
The impasse in the contract negotiations has led to Barcelona head coach Xavi reportedly expressing his interest in the forward.
However, in a recent interview with Egyptian TV channel MBC Masr, Salah stated his desire to stay in Anfield but said it was up to the club to resolve his situation.
