Seven Killed, Vehicles Set Ablaze As Bandits Occupy Zamfara Highway
No fewer than seven persons have been reportedly killed while unconfirmed number of persons were kidnapped as bandit terrorists took over the Shinkafi-Moriki-Kaura-Namoda Road in Zamfara State.
Reports obtained by Ezenwoko’s Blog have it that millions of goods, properties were razed while vehicles were also burnt by the assailants.
A resident, Musa Shuaibu, who confirmed the incident to PUNCH Metro, said the bandits attacked no fewer than 15 vehicles and set five of them ablaze.
“They blocked the road, abducted many passengers from vehicles and moved away with them to an unknown destination,” said Shuaibu.
Some of the affected vehicles, according to him, included three golf cars, one truck conveying tomatoes and a Sharon vehicle.
Shuaibu lamented that the terrorists had been on the road since last Wednesday.
He added: “They set ablaze five vehicles and goods worth millions of naira and also damaged many vehicles.
“You will hardly see motorists plying the road because of the heavy presence of the bandits and their leader, Bello Turji,” he added.
A spokesperson for the command, SP Mohammed Shehu, could not be reached on the telephone as efforts to reach him failed.
