Leave Ayu Alone Or Forget Senatorial Ambition

Leave Ayu Alone Or Forget Senatorial Ambition

The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom has been charged by the kinsmen of the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyorchia Ayu to stop seeking his removal from office.

The kinsmen, under the aegis of Jemgbagh Development Association, Abuja chapter, on Monday threatened that Ortom risks losing his senatorial race if he keeps aligning with those seeking to force Ayu to resign.

The Camp of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike had been calling for Ayu to resign from office over northerners’ dominance in the party.

The association, in a statement released by its President, Terver Felix Abor, accused Governor Ortom of deliberately planning to undermine the people of Jemgbagh, including the Minister (of Special Duties), Dr. George Akume, former Senate President, Iyorchia Ayu, and Senator Orker Jev.

He noted that the same Jemgbagh are part of the people Ortom wants to represent in the senate in 2023.

Abor wrote, “We are disheartened that the governor who wants to be the senator for Zone B of Benue State, comprising Jemgbagh and MINDA will involve himself as usual in destroying a Jamgbagh son, Ayu.

“The philosophy which defines politics as a game of interest/ number will definitely be a major factor in zone B come the 2023 general election, which Jemgbagh sons and daughters shall surely pay back.

“What will become of Jemgbagh people today if Ayu, the PDP national chairman who is also a prominent son, is pushed to resign from office? Ortom’s rightful answer to the question will give him a much more enabling experience among Jamgbagh people.”
