Two Shila Boys Who Disguise In School Uniforms Arrested In Yola
A deadly criminal group, popularly known as ‘Shila Boys’ who specializes in attacking and snatching mobile phones of citizens particularly women and young girls in the major towns in Adamawa State have now taken to wearing school uniforms to carry out their criminal act.
Two of the Shila boys who wore the school uniforms of Capital Government Day Secondary School Yola, are now cooling their heels at the Yola correctional facility for attacking two unsuspecting victims with a long knife and dispossessing them of their mobile phones.
The suspects, Madu Ibrahim and Husseini Abbas conspired with 6 others (now at large), dressed like students before attacking and extorting the phones from their victims.
Our correspondent gathered that 6 other suspected “Shila” Boys who escaped arrest are Paul, Sani, Mohammed, Abdulrazak Yusuf, Joshua and Umar Mohammed who still move around in school uniform with dangerous weapons before attacking and dispossessing people of their valuables.
The suspects, Madu and Husseini were said to have armed themselves with the knife and attacked Margret Peter and Alhassan Yunusa on the 6th July, 2022, and made away with 2 of their phones valued at N68, 000 only.
They were arrested and arraigned before Upper Area Court 4 in Yola, for the offences of criminal conspiracy and extortion contrary to sections 60 and 282 of the penal code law.
The duo, who attacked their victims and snatched their handsets along Numan road in the state capital by 5:00pm on that fateful day, ran out of luck as they were apprehended.
After the substance of their offences as contained therein in the First Information Report was read over to them, both admitted perpetrating the offences as alleged.
The court presided by Hon. Ibrahim Musa Ulenda, ordered their remand and adjourned the matter to the 26th July, 2022 for corroboration and summary trial.
