INEC Office Set Ablaze In Enugu State

The office, situated at the council’s headquarters in the Ogurute area of the state was set ablaze late Sunday night after the criminals invaded the area.

It was gathered that the state fire service which has an office at Ogurute could not move in to save the situation for fear of further attacks until security was provided.

However, it was learned that by the time security was provided, the fire had completely razed down the building.

According to The Nation, the only thing two fire trucks from Nsukka and Ogurute were able to do was to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby offices.

Meanwhile, A young man whose identity is yet to be confirmed has reportedly died while trying to cart away some power cables from a transformer in the Okija community in Anambra State.

Ezenwoko’s Blog learnt that the vandal was electrocuted to death while tampering with a 500KVA Distribution Substation at Umuatuegwu village while his accomplices escape from the scene.

A statement by the Head, of Corporate Communications of Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), Emeka Ezeh, confirmed that the vandals sneaked into the company’s property at about 6:00 am on Sunday.

Ezeh said other members of the gang escaped the scene immediately after they saw their colleague been electrocuted, leaving behind his body and their tools.

He said a formal report had been lodged at the Okija Police Division, for detailed investigation.
