Anambra Election: We Are Not Responsible For Violence In Ihiala – IPOB
The proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has distanced itself from the violence that occurred during the supplementary election in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Ezenwoko’s Blog had reported that security operatives engaged suspected IPOB members in a three-hour gun duel at Mbosi Osumoghu junction in Ihiala, leading to the residents fleeing the area.
But in a statement on Tuesday by its spokesman, Emma Powerful, IPOB said that it was not responsible for the attacks on security operatives in the area, saying that it has no business with the Anambra governorship election.
Powerful described such an attempt to link IPOB with the attempted disruption of the supplementary poll in Ihiala as the handwork of its enemies.
He pointed out that it was the group’s decision to cancel its earlier directed sit-at-home that save the election from the high-level rigging from the enemies of South East and Anambra State.
IPOB wondered why they will turn round to disrupt the election it saved from being hijacked by electoral criminals and enemies who took Imo state.
The group alleged that it had intelligence reports that some unscrupulous elements and groups are making frantic efforts to upturn the overriding decision of Ndi Anambra at Ihiala.
IPOB maintains that it has no political affiliation with any political party, it will resist any attempt to upturn the wishes of the people of Biafra land including those of Anambra people.
