APC Lawmakers Jump To 305 In The House Of Reps As ADP Member Defects

The number of the members of the House of Representatives belonging to the All Progressives Congress (APC) received another boost on Tuesday with the defection of Jacob Ajao Adejumo.

Adejumo is the member representing Ogbomosho North/South/Orire federal constituency of Oyo State in the green chamber of the National Assembly.

The lawmaker belonged to the Action Democratic Party (ADP) until his defection was announced during the plenary on Tuesday by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.

The Oyo federal lawmaker had in his letter of defection written to the House leadership, said he moved to the APC after consulting with members of his constituency.

Adejumo said he was only returning home after he initially dumped the APC when he was denied the party's ticket.

While announcing the defection, Gbajabiamila revealed that the number of APC members in the House has now increased to 305.

Ezenwoko's Blog reports in total, there are 360 Members representing each of the Federal Constituencies of the country

Meanwhile, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State, Uche Nwosu, has revealed why his party cannot win the 2021 Anambra governorship election.

Ezenwoko's Blog reports that the APC had won one only Local Government Area in the election before it was declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The electoral agency, however, announced that the supplementary election in Ihiala Local Government Area would hold today, Tuesday.

Speaking with select journalists in Abuja on Monday, Nwosu stated that the APC has performed poorly in the ongoing election because the party has lost its base in the South East.

Nwosu, the son-in-law of former governor of Imo State Rochas Okorocha, stated that the South-East chapter of the party is being run by outsiders and the founding members have been sidelined.

The former APC governorship candidate added that the declining fortune of the party in the South-East is as a result of the party leadership's failure to reward old members in preference of new members.

He, however, asked the APC leadership to retrace its steps by returning the party to its founding fathers in the region in order to perform well in the 2023 general elections.
