Anambra Election: Policemen Involved In Motor Accident
Police officers deployed for the Anambra State Governorship election from Lagos State have been involved in a motor accident.
It was gathered that the security operatives attached to the Isolo division of the command, were involved in the accident while returning to Lagos State.
The accident was reported to have happened in Awka, the state capital, leaving some of the officers seriously injured.
Meanwhile, No fewer than a thousand policemen have been deployed to the Ihiala local government area of Anambra State to assure electorates of maximum security and smooth running of the state gubernatorial election on Tuesday (today).
The police commissioner in the state, Echeng Echeng, confirmed the deployment of the cops while appearing on Channels TV on Monday night, Ezenwoko’s Blog reports.
According to Echeng, the policemen would be complemented by other security agencies to ensure adequate security during and after the polls.
The Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Charles Soludo, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Valentine Ozigbo, Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress and Ifeanyi Uba of the Young Progressives Party would battle for the supplementary election today.
The Independent National Electoral Commission had scheduled today (Tuesday) for the supplementary election in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State for the conclusion of the governorship election in the state.
