Joe Aribo ends goal drought in Rangers romp
The Super Eagles midfielder had not found the net since September, but he was back on the score sheet to guide Rangers to an emphatic home win
Scottish champions Rangers outclassed Ross County 4-2 at the Ibrox Stadium on Sunday with Nigerian midfielder Joe Aribo among the goals.
Aribo has been one of the Gers’ best players so far this season, but the Nigerian ace has not scored a goal since netting the winner in the defeat of Dundee United in September.
But the 25-year-old old corrected that anomaly when he grabbed Ranger’s equaliser 13 minutes after Joseph Hungbo struck a six-minute opener for the visitors.
Ryan Kent made it two-one before Nigerian defender Leon Balogun made his presence felt when he was shown a yellow card for a rough tackle.
Aribo then made it the first hame this season where he would bag both goal and assist when he gave the pass for Juninho Bacuna to net Rangers’ third. It got worse for the visitors shortly after as an Alex Iacovitti own-goal extended the advantage for Steven Gerrard’s men.
Jordan White grabbed a late consolation for the visitors but there was no spectacular comeback as Rangers romped to their ninth league win of the campaign.
Nigerian full-back Calvin Bassey was also in action from start to finish for the reigning league champions.
