Nwakaeme makes the difference for Trabzonspor; Ejuke's CSKA Moscow thrashed

The two Nigerian internationals were involved for their respective European clubs as one ended on the winning side and the other finished with a loss on tough grounds

In the Turkish Super Lig's biggest match of the day, Anthony Nwakaeme was the difference maker as Trabzonspor defeated Besiktas 2-1 away from home.

Nwakaeme's intelligence created the assist from which Andreas Cornelius' netted a 96th-minute winner that secured all three points for the Black Sea Storm at the Vodafone Park.

Scores had stood at one-all until the match's dying moments after Cyle Larin's second-half strike had cancelled Abdulkadir Omur's opener for Trabzonspor.

Nwakaeme's contribution is his third assist of the season, added to five goals in eleven appearances.

The away win helps Trabzonspor open a ten-point gap on former champions Besiktas. At the same time, Abdullah Avci's men boast a seven-point advantage over second-place Hatayspor, who have played a fewer game.

Chidera Ejuke featured for 71 minutes as CSKA Moscow fell 4-1 to PFC Sochi at the Fisht Olympic Stadium in a Russian Premier League game week 14 clash.

The new Super Eagles star had been one of the Muscovites' finest players this term contributing four goals and three assists to his side's cause.

But the home side's defence succeeded in keeping Ejuke and teammates away from the danger area where they could wreak havoc and were efficient upfront, smashing in three first-half goals.

Zaynutdinov reduced the deficit for the visitors before Ejuke was withdrawn, but Igor Yurganov added a late effort to condemn CSKA to an embarrassing defeat to a top-four rival.
