Seven Killed As Herdsmen Attack Adamawa Community At Night

Some gunmen suspected to be herdsmen reportedly slain at least seven residents of Negga, a community in the Numan local government area of Adamawa State.

Confirming the attack which occurred on Wednesday in a statement, the state police spokesman DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, said many others escaped the attack with wounds.

Ezenwoko’s Blog learnt that the gunmen invaded the community at about 2:00 am.

Police received signal at about 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 3, that there was an attack on Negga community in Numan Local Government Area, a village on the Adamawa-Taraba border. According to the First Information Report, the suspected criminals attacked the village while the farming community was asleep,” the police mouthpiece revealed.

While confirming that peace has been restored in the village and those injured taken to Numan General Hospital for treatment of their wounds, Nguroje warned that the police had zero tolerance for criminal groups threatening the peace and lives of innocent people of the state.

According to him, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has swung into action to fish out the assailants.

Nguroje on behalf of the police force, appealed to the good and peace-loving people of Adamawa to always assist with useful information to fish out bad eggs in the society.

Meanwhile, Tapa and Ayete communities in Ibarapa, Oyo state have raised alarm over an impending attack by Fulani herdsmen.

A letter titled “lnevitable Attack ls Looming” addressed to the commissioner of Police, Oyo state, Ngozi Onadeko, and signed by one Adeagbo Taiwo, revealed that herdsmen have threatened to attack the communities within seven days starting from Saturday, October 30, 2021, Street Journal reports.

Ezenwoko’s Blog reports that the letter alleged that on Friday, October 29, gunmen numbering up to 70 in number each with an AK-47 rifle came from Ogun State.
