Boko Haram: I Don’t Have Any Relationship With My Son – Abubakar Shekau’s Mother

Falmata Abubakar, the mother of the slain Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, has said that she has no relationship with the terrorist leader.

Speaking in her interview with Trust TV, Falmata stated that she parted ways with the Shekau a long time and that there is no connection between them.

According to Falmata, the slain Boko Haram leader subjected her to so much pain, adding that God Almighty will judge him for his misdeeds.

Shekau’s mother added that she had given up on him and does not know if the slain terrorist had children while he was alive.

She said: “I gave birth to him and on my own part, that is the only and last thing between us. Whether he is alive or not; we have parted ways.”

“I never knew whether he had any offspring. He inflicted severe pain on me. God Almighty will judge between us in the hereafter.

Ezenwoko’s Blog recalls that Shekau was killed during a face-off with fighters of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) on May 19.

ISWAP fighters stormed Shekau’s stronghold with multiple gun trucks and overpowered the Boko Haram fighters including Shekau’s bodyguards leading to the death of fighters on both sides.

After overpowering the Boko Haram fighters, Shekau was said to have surrendered and engaged in a long meeting with the ISWAP fighters.

He was given the option to voluntarily relinquish power and order his fighters in other areas to declare allegiance to ISWAP’s authority.

However, Shekau blew up a secret suicide vest he had on him, killing himself and many others present during the negotiation.

Shekau had been the leader of the Boko Haram terrorist group since 2009 following the death of the group’s founder, Mohammed Yusuf.

Following Shekau’s death, Boko Haram appointed Bakura Modu, also known as Sahaba, as the new leader of the terrorist group.
