I Am Not Afraid To Say I Influenced Secondus’ Removal, PDP Would Have Died – Wike
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has admitted influencing the removal of the suspended national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus.
Ezenwoko’s Blog reports that Uche Secondus was suspended by his ward in Rivers State following the crisis that rocked the party at the national level.
Following his suspension, a High Court in Rivers on August 24 granted an interim order, restraining him from parading himself as the National Chairman of the party.
His suspension led to the recently concluded National Convention of the Party which saw the emergence of former Senate President, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu as the new National Chairman of PDP and other principal officers.
Secondus had in a failed suit at the Court of Appeal in Rivers State, tried to stop the PDP convention held last Saturday, October 30/31.
In an interview with BBC Pidgin, Governor Nyesom Wike, who had been accused of masterminding Secondus removal following the former chairman’s failure to do his bidding, has admitted conspiring for the Rivers politician removal.
According to Wike, “I have never denied of being involved in the removal of Secondus, he was not doing well so his ward first suspended him and I am glad they did that.
“I am not the type of governor that deny their actions. I know I have hand in his removal and I’m not afraid to say it.
“I did that because if we allow him to continue as PDP chairman, the party will die”.
