Nigerian Army Troops Kill Scores Of Boko Haram/ISWAP Terrorists, Burn Workshop

Troops of the Nigerian Army have inflicted further casualties on terrorists operating in the Lake Chad region by killing many of them.

The Army revealed on Monday that several Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists have been killed in a fresh operation by troops deployed under Operation Lake Sanity.

Apart from the terrorists killed, the troops also discovered and destroyed several bunkers and fabrication workshops belonging to the terrorists.

Weapons and other equipment were also recovered during the clearance operation.

The Army in its statement noted that “Gallant troops of Operation LAKE SANITY today neutralized several terrorists and recovered weapons/ equipment around the Lake Chad axis. BokoHaram/ISWAP Central Vehicle Fabrication Workshop & several bunkers were also discovered and destroyed.”

In other news, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, has demanded an immediate prosecution of arrested bandits and terrorists including their sponsors.

The monarch said the unwillingness of the Federal Government to prosecute the terrorists has emboldened them to continue to carry out attacks and killings in the Northern part of the country.

Abubakar called for the resignation of the National Security Adviser (NSA), Babagana Monguno, and the service chiefs over the widespread insecurity in the country.

The Sultan stated these during a security dialogue retreat jointly organised by the Global Peace Foundation and Vision Africa in Abuja on Monday.

The Islamic leader stated that the bane of the nation’s problem is corruption, adding that the issue of insecurity in Nigeria should be tackled alongside corruption.
