Job Title: Event Manager

Location: Lagos

Position Summary

  • We are looking for an Event Manager who will plan and organise events for Pulse that will resonate with our audience and strategically highlight our clients and their brands.
  • You will be responsible for building events as a key revenue driver for Pulse.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction for all Pulse events and ensure effective integrated marketing strategies for events that target our audience
  • Successfully plan, manage and execute events end-to-end for Pulse
  • Build the event function to create revenue-generating opportunities for Pulse – both B2B and D2C
  • Produce detailed proposals for events – timelines, venues, vendors, legal obligations, staffing and budgets
  • Create work schedules for events, delegating and assigning roles as required for successful execution
  • Represent the company in conversations with key stakeholders & partners
  • Develop relationships to identify new monetizable event opportunities for the Pulse Brand
  • Manage all event planning, coordinate logistics and vendors, be hands-on on the day of the event to troubleshoot and ensure seamless, timely and cost-effective execution
  • Create, maintain, and improve systems and processes for organizing events and the events function at Pulse
  • Analyse and report on the performance and ROI of events and adapt future plans accordingly for optimal results
  • Collaborate extensively with Sales to pitch event ideas to brands as part of their marketing mix
  • Act as a key partner for Sales teams by using the event function as a strategic tool for lead generation and to build relationships with key clients
  • Support the Content team in content creation from events
  • Ensure synergies with other Pulse products and teams are maximized and also closely collaborate with the international teams
  • Ensure Pulse is a media partner or has a presence at key events in Nigeria and the diaspora
  • Contribute to team learning sessions and facilitate knowledge sharing on an ongoing basis
  • Build relationships and strategic partnerships with relevant stakeholders in the events space and across relevant industries
  • Stay up to date on the trends and be aware of competitive activity in the market to ensure that the Pulse events offering is always innovative and impactful.

  • Great negotiation skills to get the best price from venues and vendors
  • Great relationship-building skills to cultivate a network of event partners across industries
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, start-up environment with dynamic business priorities
  • Strong understanding of building budgets within Excel and Presentations in Powerpoint.
