Liberty World Outreach, the crusade Arm of Christ United Ministry International (CUMI) with HQ in Houston, Texas, U.S.A. has begun a Food Pantry and Community Empowerment Arm to feed, empower, and sensitize the people of Osun State.
The event, titled ‘Jesus, the Light of the World’, took place at Orioke Agbara Olutimehin, Constain in Osogbo.
According to the event convener, Apostle Matthew Oluwajoba, the purpose of the community outreach was to reach out and give back to society, particularly to those interested in starting a business of some sort.
Apart from feeding the people with the word of God, Apostle Matthew Oluwajoba said that they also availed us of the opportunity to feed them, donate food items, empower people with skills and products for start-up, and offer them basic medical check-ups.
While expressing gratitude to the consultancy firm (Daytal Consult) that oversaw the empowerment event, Apostle Matthew Oluwajoba stated that “We travelled down from the United States to spread the light of Christ and to demonstrate empathy to the people. He prayed that this program will be implemented in a larger number of locations where Christ is unknown.”
Dr. Toyin Aladejana of Daytal Consult expressed delight with the turnout for the empowerment event. She was excited and over joyous that the attendance exceeded her expectations, while the plan in place the distribution of raw food items met everybody’s needs.
The nurses at the check-up station claimed that they carried out some minor medical examinations. Additionally, they suggested medications that might aid the treatment of certain conditions, particularly hypertension. They equally counselled people on maintaining a healthy lifestyle and recommended that people visit healthcare centres or hospitals as occasion demanded.
Mrs. Covenant Oluwajoba, the wife of the convener and the Coordinator of the Food Pantry Arm of Liberty World Outreach working alongside City Changers International Executive, expressed gratitude to all program stakeholders and stated that collaboration and cooperation were critical and necessary ingredients particularly for expanding the scope and of the empowerment.
Additionally, she stated that the relationship and the presence of all supporters including the wife of the Deputy Governor of Osun State, Her Excellency Mrs. Funke Alabi who was very much present throughout the event were a means of extending their humanitarian, social, and goodwill to the community, particularly to vulnerable and impoverished women and children.
Following the business orientation by the Daytal Consult team business, the participating individuals were provided with skills such as liquid soap production and pastry making, among others.
Apostle Oluwajoba opined that CUMI believed that if the people take the empowerment seriously, it could be a source of livelihood for them. He expressed the view that it does not cost much to start this kind of business. With just a token that we would be supporting them with, they could start such a business that could put food on their tables.
Professor Oladiran Famurewa and his Wife Mrs Comfort Famurewa while expressing their gratitude to the sponsors of the event prayed God Almighty to replenish their finances for another opportunity next year to experience this kind of gesture. Professor Famurewa concluded by appreciating the people that organised this programme and prayed for divine grace and blessings.
In the course of the programme, everyone was engaged with songs and praises, dance, prayer, and other social activities to express their delight and excitement.
