I Will Waive My Immunity – Osinbajo Blows Hot As He Begins Legal Action Over Libel Against Him

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday, September 25, in a series of tweets, said that he is ready to forgo his constitutional immunity to allow for robust adjudication of what he called “libel and malicious falsehood” against him.

Osinbajo also said he has asked that legal action be taken against former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timi Frank and Katch Ononuju who claimed that Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) provided the sum of N90bn to the vice president for the election campaign.

Taking to his official Twitter account, the vice president said:

In the past few days, a spate of reckless and malicious falsehoods have been peddled in the media against me by a group of malicious individuals.

The defamatory and misleading assertions invented by this clique have been making the social media rounds anonymously.

I have today instructed the commencement of legal action against two individuals, one Timi Frank and another Katch Ononuju, who have put their names to these odious falsehoods.

The defamatory and misleading assertions invented by this clique have been making the social media rounds anonymously.

I will waive my constitutional immunity to enable the most robust adjudication of these claims of libel and malicious falsehood.
