The Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, on Thursday donated N10m to supplement the feeding of corps members deployed in the state for a three-week orientation course.
The governor made the donation while declaring open the 2019 orientation ceremony of 2,200 Batch ‘B’ corps members at the Umunya orientation camp in the Oyi Local Government Area of the state.
Represented by the state’s Head of Service, Harry Udu, the governor reassured his administration’s continued support to the scheme.
He said, “I hereby direct the NYSC Coordinator to ensure the provision of the most sumptuous meal nationwide as I shall be supplementing the feeding in the Anambra camp with the sum of N10m.
“We will continue to provide the enabling environment for the youths to maximize their potential of self actualisation and employment.”
He urged the corps members to take advantage of the numerous youth-friendly policies and the conducive environment in the state to build prosperity for themselves and the nation.
He promised to complete the permanent NYSC Orientation Camp at Umuawulu, Awka South Local Government Area of the state before August.
The State Coordinator, Kehinde Aremu, regretted the delay in the completion of the permanent camp, attributing it to delay in budgetary releases.
“We were almost 100% sure of readiness of the camp, but budgetary releases stalled the total completion. That’s why we were back to the loving arms of the Umunya community.”
