The Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Danladi Umar has hinted that a bench warrant may be issued against the embattled Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon Justice Walter Onnoghen.
This follows the failure of the CJN to attend court today, the 4th February, 2019 for his trial before the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
Counsel appearing for the CJN had informed the court that a petition on the same matter was also now pending before the NJC .
While adjourning the matter, the CCT Chairman insisted that the defendant must appear before the tribunal on the next adjourned date otherwise necessary orders would be made. The likely order in this circumstance is a bench warrant to compel the attendance of the defendant.
The matter was subsequently adjourned to the 13th of February 2019
