In a bold and commendable exercise of judicial powers the Abuja Judicial division of the Federal High Court has granted bail to Sambo Dasuki, the former National Security Adviser who has been in detention since 2015.
Delivering its ruling, the Court presided over by Honourable Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu held the detention of the Ex National Security Adviser in disobedience of orders of various trial Courts an “aberration of the rule” and a gross violation of Dasuki’s fundamental right to liberty.
The Judiciary rightly deserves great commendation for this important decision which sends a clear signal that the Judiciary is still the last hope of the common man, we urge the bench to maintain this laudable approach in the interest of human rights and the rule of law.
It is hoped that the Federal Government will this time take the path of honour and obey the order of Court as a way of setting good example and showing that we are in a civilized society where rule of law prevails as against arbitrariness.
